The Gorgeous Kitchen in Terminal 2 (T2) at London Heathrow Airport has been voted the best airport restaurant worldwide by food and beverage review website The Daily Meal. The site compiled a list of the top 35 airport restaurants worldwide using the company’s in-house knowledge as well as reviewing lists compiled by CNN, Condé Nast Traveler and the Travel Channel.
The Gorgeous Kitchen is the product of four British female chefs – Gee Charman, Sophie Mitchell, Jo Pratt and Caroline Mi Li Artiss. The restaurant boasts a wide-ranging seasonal menu, including kedgeree and full English breakfast dishes for the mornings, crab with lemon mayonnaise sandwiches and wheat-free pistachio cake for afternoon tea, and pan-fried sea bass with sautéed leeks and garlic cream sauce for lunch or dinner.
Charman said, “It’s so exciting to be recognized for putting great food into an airport environment. A visit to The Gorgeous Kitchen really is a great start to a holiday or business trip where good food rules the day. What an honor to be named as the best airport restaurant in the world.”
Pratt added, “I’m absolutely overjoyed that The Gorgeous Kitchen has been named as the best airport restaurant in the world. We’re all very proud of our restaurant and it’s amazing to see that the hard work and dedication of the whole team is being recognized. It’s very important to us that our customers can be given a memorable experience before flying and receiving this award is proof that we are achieving our aim.”
Opened in partnership with concessionaire HMSHost, The Gorgeous Kitchen is capable of seating up to 120 travelers and features an open theatre kitchen, counter dining, banquette seating and sweeping views of the T2 airfield.
“We are very proud to have been recognized as the best airport restaurant in the world,” said Walter Seib, CEO of HMSHost International. “The Gorgeous Kitchen is a welcome addition to the airport environment. The intimate design, the exhibition cooking, and innovative menu complement the impeccable and warm hospitality, all blending to create a one-of-a-kind journey for the travelers at Heathrow T2.”
