French cosmetics retailer Sephora has partnered with travel retailer DFS Group and Abu Dhabi Duty Free to open its first pop-up stores at an airport at Abu Dhabi International Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The two new stores will be open between August 1 and October 31, 2015, in terminals 1 and 3 of the airport. Each store will provide an assortment of beauty products representing Sephora’s own private label range ‘Made In Sephora’. Beauty and Fragrance was the biggest selling product category at Abu Dhabi International in 2014, with a 31% share of duty free turnover helping to increase overall annual sales by almost 10%.
Daniel Cappell, acting chief commercial officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, said, “We are delighted to welcome Sephora to Abu Dhabi Duty Free and to be the first airport to host them in a duty-free retail space managed and operated by our retailer partner DFS. Beauty and Fragrance is an important part of our offering to passengers and the choice of leading brands has increased to meet their demands. Sephora, with its unique, open-sell shopping environment, perfectly complements our commitment to offer travelers a world-class, unique shopping experience within the airport.”
Sephora, owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH), is one of the leading perfume and cosmetics stores in France, and provides skincare, fragrance, body, and haircare products, in addition to its own private label. The brand operates approximately 1,900 stores in 29 countries worldwide, including 24 stores in the Middle East.
