Security specialist Morpho Detection has been awarded a contract to supply 44 explosive trace detector units to Manchester, East Midlands and London Stansted airports.
Airport operator Manchester Airports Group (MAG) awarded the contract to Morpho following a competitive commercial tender process. Morpho will now supply 44 Itemiser 4DX explosives trace detectors which are capable of quickly detecting and identifying trace amounts of explosives on skin, clothing, carried items, bags and various other surfaces. The desktop units are powered by a non-radioactive ion trap mobility spectrometer (ITMS) source, eliminating the administrative, regulatory, storage and shipping requirements associated with a radiation-emitting trace detection source.
Karen Bomba, president and CEO, Morpho Detection, said, “Building on 15 years of Itemiser systems screening passengers and baggage at the world’s busiest aviation hubs, Itemiser 4DX helps airports enhance security and operational capabilities while reducing false alarms. Morpho’s field-proven track record of delivering, servicing and supporting ETD systems around the world has created an unmatched, reliable end-to-end solution. We look forward to supporting MAG as they work to meet their growing passenger and security demands.”
