Nordic — Office of Architecture is a growing practice based in Oslo, with offices in Copenhagen, Reykjavik and London. We are more than 230 individuals from 30 different countries, all united by a desire to create exceptional architecture.
With 30 years of experience designing for the aviation industry, our in-house experts have developed a deep understanding of terminal planning and design, airport functions and operations, flexible and future proof masterplanning, construction and project management. We offer architectural and design services for terminals and related buildings from concept to final delivery, as well as specialist services such as designing passenger boarding bridges and baggage handling systems.
We create adaptable and sustainable airports through exceptional architecture that transforms, inspires and enhances the way we travel. These are our guidelines;
Make it simple. The finished building should be easy to navigate, conveniently reached by both public and private transport, and easy to maintain and operate.
Make it flexible. Airports need to be able to handle the inevitable changes in such a fast-moving industry; to be easily expandable, cater for altering trends and accommodate sufficient revenue generating areas.
Make it comfortable. Providing both travellers and everyone working at the airport with as stress free an experience as possible. This entails providing enough space and daylight and taking care to express the local sense of place and culture.
In recent years, Nordic has designed and delivered some of the most innovative and talked-about airport projects in the world. Amongst others, the largest airport terminal under one roof, Istanbul Airport in Turkey, and the world’s first BREEAM Excellent rated terminal building at Oslo Airport. Several ongoing airport projects all over the world are currently under development.
