The Finnish Border Guard is to continue a pilot project on the use of a digital travel document at Helsinki Airport.
The DTC pilot project will enable passengers on Finnair flights to London, Edinburgh and Manchester to use a separately marked border control checkpoint to pass more easily through border control.
The pilot program was launched in August 2023 and is available for Finnish citizens only.
The DTC has also been tested in a similar project for air traffic between the Netherlands and Canada. Both projects produce data for the European Commission’s legislative needs as part of the commission’s broad digital identity policy package.
