Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Italy has partnered with Paris-based mobile services firm Connecthings to implement an integrated passenger information solution using Bluetooth beacons, NFC tags and QR codes.
The new solution will allow the airport to program and implement different actions using Connecthings’ AdTag content management platform. Actions can include sending passengers notifications, alerts and gate redirections.
Silvia Lombardi, IT and innovation manager, Bologna Airport, said, “Connecthings’ innovative solution will allow us to create new ways of interacting between our Bologna application and the dozens of beacons installed within the airport – hence improving our customers’ dedicated information services.
“We aim to engage with all our travelers and visitors via our digital services. Access to the airport and orientation in the airport can now be easily facilitated using the travelers’ mobile devices.”
Clémence Barret, business development director – Italy, Connecthings, said, “Bologna Airport immediately understood the advantages of creating synergies between the different contactless technologies – hence adding value to their existing application and future application in 2016. Bluetooth beacons will boost application usage whereas NFC tags and QR codes will trigger application downloading.”
