Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA) has announced that Culiacán International Airport in Mexico has received a Certification for Environmental Quality from the Mexican Environmental Protection Agency (PROFEPA) for the seventh consecutive occasion.
Culiacán International has voluntarily participated in the National Program for Environmental Audits since 2002. The biennial certification analyzes the airport’s compliance with legal obligations in environmental matters, protection of the environment and mitigation of operational impacts.
The airport was granted the award due to its achievements in reducing water and electricity usage; improving air, soil, and subsoil quality; and the management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
Airports in the cities of Acapulco, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, San Luis Potosí and Tampico in Mexico also received the environmental certification.
