A new 19,000ft² commercial area containing space for more than 20 establishments has been opened in Terminal 2 (T2) at São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil.
The new area currently contains a number of souvenir, clothing, accessory and gift shops and will be further developed to bring on board several local and internationally recognized brands in retail and dining.
Gustavo Figueiredo, CEO for São Paulo International, said, “Our goal is to increase the number of commercial establishments and, at the same time, increase the scale of commercial contracts, negotiating with players of strategic brands recognized in each retail segment.”
São Paulo Airport is run by a consortium of developers including airport operators Infraero and Airports Company South Africa, as well as Brazilian concession operator Invepar. Since obtaining the concession in 2012, the consortium has increased the number of commercial outlets from 102 to 234, and increased non-aeronautical income from 35% to 50%.
