Václav Havel Airport Prague has awarded its five-year Travel Essentials contract to Lagardère Travel Retail
Covering seven business units with a total area of 552m2 (5,940ft2) across Terminals 1 and 2, the new contract follows a duty-free tender awarded to the retailer in June 2019, covering 24 business units over 4,372m2 (47,060ft2), including the walk-through at Terminal 1 that Lagardère Travel Retail already operates.
“The requirements for the tender were 50% based on qualitative criteria, such as the ability to continuously adapt to the changing passenger mix, originality, variety of goods offered, and the staffing and logistics plan, and 50% on financial criteria. We are thrilled that, in addition to the duty-free and fashion concession already awarded to Lagardère Travel Retail last June, the group will also operate travel essentials,” said Václav Řehoř, chairman of the board of directors of Prague Airport.
According to Richard Procházka, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail, winning the tender confirms the strength of the company’s Relay brand in transport hubs.
“We are also very excited to be able to release our Relay Next Generation concept at Prague Airport, introducing the combined Relay-Trip Advisor concept, which associates the best of travel retail and the online travel world. We will open all seven stores during the first quarter of 2020, welcoming passengers at the start of the summer season,” he added.
