Heinemann Duty Free began operations today (February 17) at Sydney Airport in Australia. The concessionaire will implement a number of changes over the next 12 months including a complete refit of the six existing duty free stores in Terminal 1 (T1). The shops have been designed by Heinemann’s in-house design team in partnership with renowned Australian architectural firms Geyer and Lava. The stores will be completed by mid-2016.
Kerrie Mather, managing director and CEO for Sydney Airport, said, “Heinemann is the world’s third largest travel retailer and we selected them for the exclusive brands and value they will provide to more than 13 million passengers who travel internationally from Sydney Airport each year.
“We are looking forward to working with Heinemann over the next year to transform the airport’s duty free offering and create a retail experience that’s uniquely Sydney.”
Max Heinemann, CEO for Heinemann Asia Pacific, said, “We’re going to give passengers a fantastic retail experience with outstanding service and exclusive international brands at attractive prices.”
Alongside the duty free retail outlets, Heinemann will also operate two dining concepts, headed by celebrity chef Luke Mangan.
