GMR Airports Limited (GAL), a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure, has signed a concession agreement with Kannur International Airport in Kerala, India, to develop, operate, maintain and manage its duty-free outlets on an exclusive basis.
Under the agreement, GAL will design, finance and operate the duty-free shops at Kannur for seven years, extendable by three years.

Kannur Airport began commercial operations in December 2018, handling 1 million passengers within nine months of commissioning. The airport handled around 1.14 million passengers between April and November 2019, of which around 540,000 were international.
Kannur is the administrative headquarters of the Kannur District and is 518km (321 miles) north of the Keralan state capital Thiruvananthapuram.
