Food and beverage operator Autogrill Europe is expanding its presence in Spain with new restaurants at Barcelona-El Prat and Gran Canaria airports.
The eight-year contracts awarded by Spanish airport operator AENA run from 2018 and are expected to generate new sales in excess of €250m (US$310m) over the period.
There will be five locations at Barcelona-El Prat Airport, with the first restaurants entering service in summer 2018. At Gran Canaria, Autogrill has also secured the operation of three new locations which will also run from mid-2018.
In Terminal 1 at Barcelona-El Prat, Autogrill will provide a unique travel food and beverage offering featuring a mix of successful local concepts and international labels, including two La Botiga restaurants, serving traditional Spanish cuisine, and Piscolabis, an original, in-trend urban tapas restaurant, as well as a Starbucks (the first in the airport) and American classic TGI Friday.
At Gran Canaria Airport, Autogrill will open a Leon restaurant the first after forming a partnership with the UK brand, and also a Cafè de Indias, where travelers can enjoy coffees and infusions in a colonial atmosphere at any time of the day, and Playa Padre, a lounge bar offering both traditional Mediterranean and Mexican cuisine.
