Bahrain Airport Company’s (BAC) vice president of information and communication technology, Najwa Abdul Rahim, has been elected to the ACI World Airport IT Standing Committee (WAITSC) following a successful nomination by Bahrain International Airport (BIA).
In this role, Abdul Rahim will help to develop recommended practices and standards for airport IT and promote the digitization of airports across the world. This significant appointment is in recognition of Abdul Rahim’s extensive expertise.
The WAITSC actively works to develop IT guidelines on all airport IT related practices and communicate them to the airport community.
Abdul Rahim will help to develop IT industry policy guidelines and positions on issues affecting airport automation, telecommunications infrastructure, and related passenger and cargo services.
WAITSC is currently working on a number of initiatives to help streamline airport IT operations and passenger movements, including projects related to digital transformation, cybersecurity, blockchain, the Internet of Things, and chatbot technology.
As BAC’s vice president of information and communication technology, Abdul Rahim plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth overall experience for passengers at BIA. Her responsibilities include planning and executing strategies to improve performance, cost-effectiveness and service quality, as well as ensuring the availability, integrity and accessibility of information to BAC users, partners and customers.
