Siemens Postal, Parcel & Airport Logistics (SPPAL) is presenting its broad portfolio of hardware and software for airports and airlines at this year’s Passenger Terminal Expo.
From efficiency-enhancing baggage-handling systems and cloud-based technologies, up to comprehensive service offerings, SPPAL provides a range of solutions and systems to further improve vital airport processes.
Visitors will be introduced to its VarioTray technology. This solution offers significant advantages in baggage handling, particularly for airports with a high volume of transfer passengers.
The SmartTray forms an excellent basis for predictive maintenance of baggage-handling systems, with intelligent sensors on different components recording measurements and data that is stored in MindSphere, the open, cloud-based Internet of Things operating system from Siemens.
Innovative applications access the collected information, which can represent factors such as deviating vibration or distance values, then analyse them and employ them for preventive maintenance activities. The effect is enhanced availability, lifetime and performance of baggage handling systems. In addition, the planning of future maintenance activities is improved and operating costs can be reduced to a minimum.
SPPAL will also be presenting future-oriented digital solutions for optimised, seamless airport processes. Siemens is continuing to drive developments of its comprehensive portfolio for Aviation 4.0, both in baggage handling and freight logistics.
