Alberto Martin, London Luton Airport’s (LLA) current planning and investment director, has been appointed CEO of the hub with immediate effect.
Nick Barton has taken the decision to step down from his role as CEO of LLA to take up a new professional challenge in the New Year.
Martin has successfully delivered LLA’s recently completed £160 million terminal transformation project and overseen the preparation and negotiation for Luton Borough Council’s £225m Direct Air-Rail Transit, which will link the airport terminal with Luton Airport Parkway by 2021.
Before joining LLA, Martin gained 20 years’ experience in airports, holding a variety of executive roles across Europe, including 10 years as managing director of Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura airports.
Commenting on his appointment, Martin said, “Building on the strong demand from passengers and the success of our recent terminal transformation, I’m delighted to have the opportunity to lead the team in establishing LLA as the airport of choice for accessible, easy and enjoyable air travel.”
