German firm Goldbeck has won a £31m (US$40m) contract to build a multi-storey car park at London Gatwick Airport.
Construction of the new facility, next to the airport’s North Terminal, began on November 4, with the initial setup and surveys. The project is scheduled to complete on April 23, 2021, and will provide 3,200 parking spaces. Airport operations will remain uninterrupted during construction.
The car park will be designed by Goldbeck’s in-house architectural and structural teams and manufactured by the company’s own production plants.
