Malaysia Airports has allocated designated e-hailing pickup points at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
From August 1, the pickup point at the main terminal will be at Gates 3 and 4, Level 1. For Terminal 2, the new pickup point is at the Transportation Hub, Level 1 – this has been operational since July 1.
According to Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin, group chief executive officer of Malaysia Airports, the initiative is in line with the organization’s bid to make passenger comfort and convenience a top priority.
Raja Azmi said, “We have seen a drastic increase in e-hailing rides in the country since they were first introduced to Malaysia. We also intend to provide a free waiting area for the e-hailing drivers.”
He added, “We hope to see our passengers relaxing on the comfortable seats after a long flight, while waiting for their ride. This initiative will serve our passengers well.”
The pickup points are non-waiting areas and drivers will have a maximum time of only five minutes when picking up the passengers, to reduce congestion. Only cars displaying an e-hailing identification sticker will be allowed into the designated areas.
Passengers arriving at the airport via e-hailing will be dropped off at the normal departure entrance.
