Global logistics provider DHL is set to expand its warehouse and office facility at Auckland Airport in New Zealand. The expansion project will double the size of the existing facility from approximately 27,000ft2 to 54,000ft2. The project is scheduled for completion by December 2015.
Mark Thomson, general manager of property for Auckland Airport, said, “This latest development is significant because it entails the expansion of a facility which has direct access to the airfield apron enabling extremely efficient cargo transfer. Auckland Airport has enjoyed a long association with DHL Group and we are thrilled to be able to support its continued growth.”
Tim Baxter, country manager for DHL Express New Zealand, said, “We are delighted to be undergoing this expansion, which will see our warehouse double in size, our shipments processed twice as fast and up to 20 new jobs being created.
“DHL Express has worked closely with Auckland Airport on the upgrade of our Auckland gateway facility, which has been driven by unprecedented customer demand.”
