Airports of Thailand (AoT), the operator for Suvarnabhumi Airport, has begun reshaping the airport’s terminal to make way for the construction of more premium passenger lounges.
According to a report by the Bangkok Post, the operator has dedicated an 18,000ft2 area near Concourse D to the project, which will be split between four airlines and Louis’ Tavern Transit Hotel. Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways and Singapore Airlines will all add to their existing lounge space at the airport, whereas Qatar Airways will construct only its second premium lounge outside of Doha. Qatar Airways will model the lounge on its facility at London Heathrow Airport.
The report states that while AoT hopes the new lounges can open by year-end, airline executives are thought skeptical due to the long process.
