Hospitality firm Plaza Premium Group has opened three new passenger lounges and an airside hotel in the newly constructed Terminal 2 (T2) facility at Tom Jobim International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The three Plaza Premium Lounges are located in international departures, domestic departures and arrivals, covering approximately 14,000ft², 10,000ft² and 3,800ft² respectively. With combined seating for 570 travelers, the three lounges look to adopt the vibrant Carioca culture of Rio with associated designs reflected in the furniture, murals, carpet and graffiti artwork.
As part of this concept, the food and beverage offerings developed by the group’s executive chef comprise a variety of hot and cold authentic delicacies at the buffet counters and live cooking stations. These dishes have been coupled with a selection of drinks appreciated by both Brazilians and foreigners such as Caipirinha, Brazil’s national cocktail.
Guests can also enjoy access to complimentary wi-fi, electrical outlets including USB sockets, Plaza Premium’s signature honeycomb seating, meeting and VIP rooms, shower facilities, and an exclusive outdoor terrace.
Located in international departures, Aerotel Rio de Janeiro provides passengers with convenient access to facilities when traveling in the early hours or experiencing a long layover. The hotel spans more than 2,000ft² offering 16 airside guestrooms.
Song Hoi-see, founder and CEO of Plaza Premium Group, said, “We are very excited to have our airport lounges and transit hotel debut in Brazil today.
“All of this could not have been achieved without the stanch support of RIOgaleão, which shares the same passion as we do, and we very much look forward to the long-term partnership to create premium airport services without boundaries.”
Luiz Rocha, president of RIOgaleão, the airport operator, said, “Our partnership with Plaza Premium Group represents the evolution and modernization of RIOgaleão. Nowadays, RIOgaleão provides one of the most complete airport services in the worldwide arena.”
