Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Ecuador has opened its newly-expanded 1,135m² (12,217ft²) international VIP lounge. The space was designed by InStudio and decorated by AHDI Estudio de Diseño.
The lounge includes sleeping areas; bathrooms with showers and the necessary fittings; private spaces and gathering areas; working and reading places; and a bar with gastronomic offerings and an external terrace adorned with jasmine and other flowers, a jacaranda tree and other endemic plants.
An exclusive lounge for Diners Club customers will also operate in this area. The new Club Lounge was designed taking into account the preferences and tastes of Diners Club members.
Andrew O’Brian, president and CEO of Corporación Quiport, airport concessionaire, said, “As the ones responsible for the Mariscal Sucre Airport administration, we are always looking for opportunities in order to provide better services and to improve our quality standards. We wish to continue leading the region’s airport industry and, therefore, this is a step forward in our determination to maintain excellence in our services.”
During the inauguration ceremony, tourism vice minister Carlos Larrea commented, “The work performed jointly with Quiport demonstrates that together we can reach further. We are joining the efforts of many institutions for the sole purpose of becoming a touristic powerhouse. Upon inaugurating this VIP Lounge, we are closing the circle and coming closer to the objective.”
