Global IT provider SITA has been selected to provide key systems for the new international terminal at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algeria.
The new terminal, which opened to the public in April 2019, is among the first airports in North Africa to use SITA’s Airport Management Solution, a suite of integrated software applications designed to manage airport operations from the terminal to the airfield.
Using Airport Management System also gives the airport operations team access to real-time data, enabling it to better anticipate, plan and control operations. This will give Algiers Airport a better overview of all activities across the new terminal, facilitating proactive and coordinated decision-making across the airport.
SITA has also installed more than 156 common-use check-in and boarding gates, a dozen self-service kiosks, a baggage reconciliation system, and more than 320 flight displays screens across the terminal.
Collaborating with SITA is intended to help Algiers Airport deliver the most efficient operation and passenger experience possible and to help the country achieve the strategic goal of enhancing its airport infrastructure and transforming its aviation sector.
The new Terminal 4 is expected to accommodate 10 million passengers per year, raising the airport’s overall capacity to 18 million passengers.
