F&B outlet operator SSP Group has opened its first units at Brazil’s two main international airports, Rio de Janeiro Tom Jobim International Airport and São Paulo International Airport.
The new units are the first to open under a joint venture partnership between SSP and Duty Free Americas (DFA).
SSP opened the first Upper Crust in Brazil at Rio de Janeiro Tom Jobim International Airport. The unit boasts 120m² (1,290ft2) of space with a spacious seating area offering views across the airport. Passengers can choose from Upper Crust’s traditional menu of sandwiches, baguettes and snacks, as well as fillings inspired by Brazil, including the ‘Salpicon’ baguette. A Barzetti has also opened in the airside domestic food court at the airport, offering freshly made pizza and pasta dishes served with real Italian style.
The SSP F&B line-up at Rio de Janeiro has been further strengthened with the recent opening of Mi Casa Burritos and Monty’s Dogs & Cones. Introduced to the landside food court, Mi Casa Burritos offers a generous range of authentic Mexican cuisine, while Monty’s Dogs & Cones serves American-style hot dogs and ice creams. A new unit from artisan coffee specialist Ritazza has also opened in the international departures area, while SSP’s own contemporary dining concept, Factory Bar & Kitchen, will soon be unveiled at the airport.
SSP has also opened a branch of Mi Casa Burritos at São Paulo, the airport’s first Mexican concept. The 100m² (1,080ft2) unit offers an authentic Mexican vibe, from its bright and enticing décor to its wide range of traditional dishes, among them tacos, burritos and nachos. An Upper Crust outlet is also located landside, while passengers in the landside arrivals area can take advantage of a new Ritazza unit.
SSP expanded its landside F&B offer at São Paulo with the recent opening of three new units. Camden Food Co offers nutritious and indulgent sandwiches and salads for customers seeking out healthier food options, while Factory Bar & Kitchen has been adapted for the Brazilian market, with an updated menu featuring new dishes that appeal to both local and international tastes. Completing the line-up is a new outlet for Monty’s Dogs and Cones.
The F&B specialist will continue to develop its operations at Rio de Janeiro Tom Jobim International Airport and São Paulo International Airport in the coming months, and will shortly open new Jamie’s Deli restaurants at both airports, taking the global partnership between SSP and Jamie Oliver Restaurants to 18 outlets. Jamie’s Deli will serve Italian-inspired sandwiches, salads, hot Italian dishes, antipasti and hand-stretched Neapolitan pizza to order.
Rossana Spena, general manager at SSP Brazil, said, “We’re incredibly proud and excited to be introducing some of SSP’s own brands to South America for the first time at two of Brazil’s busiest airports. These concepts have proven extremely popular with travelers across the world. I’m certain that passengers in Brazil will be equally impressed with these much-loved brands.”
