German airline operator Lufthansa has developed a new grab-and-go catering option called Delights to Go, which will be trialled for six months in its dedicated lounge at Munich Airport Terminal 2 (T2).
Delights to Go provides high-quality snacks and drinks for hurried travelers in a stylish self-service area. The offer is free to passengers with lounge access who can enter the area by showing their boarding pass at the lounge entrance. By operating an interactive user interface, the guest can select one of three gourmet boxes from the categories listed on the screen.
The categories include Classic, with options including a tuna wrap and Greek salad; Balance, with choices including a sprout sandwich with pear and fig mustard; or Local, with snacks such as a Munich sausage salad. These main selections are complemented by a sweet or savory snack, a piece of fresh fruit and a small bottle of water. The offer varies every two weeks.
Once the choice has been made, the snack box slides into the ergonomically placed output compartment directly under the monitor. Directly next to it the guest has the choice between coffee, tea, water and a variety of juices. Once the drink is selected, the cup can be put into a built-in place holder in the box, enabling the entire meal to be packed into a paper bag so the passenger can rush to the departure gate.
