London Heathrow Airport has announced an exclusive new collaboration with Michelin-starred British chef Jason Atherton (left), who will be bringing some of his award-winning dishes to Heathrow VIP services.
Heathrow VIP is exclusively available for business and first class passengers, offering a private and relaxing transition through the airport in just over 44 steps. The VIP service begins with a chauffeur-driven journey to a dedicated private entrance, where the concierge greets passengers and takes them to their own private lounge to wait for their flight. The VIP team takes care of check-in and luggage within the suite, as well as private security screening when it is time to depart. Passengers can enjoy a 5-star meal or a bespoke personal shopping service from the comfort of their private lounge. When it’s time to board, guests are transported in a luxury car directly to the door of their departing flight following their choice to be first or last passenger to board.
Taking inspiration from the menus of Atherton’s renowned restaurants, and with a focus on British produce, the new menu means customers can indulge in classic British cuisine before they depart from the UK. The menu will be updated on a monthly basis, with those traveling this June set to enjoy a selection of canapés, followed by a summer salad starter and a roasted stone bass, caramelized cauliflower, fennel and cockle velouté main course, inspired by food from Berners Tavern. For dessert, passengers can tuck into a French meringue, fresh berry compote and strawberry sorbet.
Atherton said, “Having experienced the Heathrow VIP offering first hand, I’ve always been impressed with how the service transforms the way you travel and so I was delighted to help make the dining experience a true occasion for passengers. With the help of my team and the Heathrow VIP chefs, we’ve created a range of exciting dishes to suit even the most experienced palate; we hope this will enhance the premium experience when traveling through the VIP suite at Heathrow.”
John Holland-Kaye, CEO of Heathrow, said, “I can still remember the first time I ate in one of Jason’s restaurants – I went straight out and bought his recipe book so that I could try them out at home. I am thrilled that our VIP passengers can experience the real thing, the very best in British cuisine, when they travel through Heathrow. From the minute a passenger arrives, to the moment they board their flight, Heathrow’s VIP experience offers a seamless, private and luxurious journey through the airport – now complemented with the culinary masterpieces from the brilliant Jason Atherton.”
