Global restaurateur HMSHost, working with partner JQ Enterprises, is bringing Starbucks Coffee to Myrtle Beach International Airport in Horry County, South Carolina.
The five-year contract, valued at US$14m, also involves launching The Grand Strand Bar – both new locations are expected to be operational in spring 2020. The openings will be HMSHost’s first food and beverage offerings in South Carolina.
“We are thrilled to partner with Myrtle Beach International Airport for the first time and look forward to providing an excellent food and drink experience for travelers flying in and out of the beloved Grand Strand area,” said HMSHost vice president of business development, Bryan Loden.
“Horry County Department of Airports is thrilled to welcome Starbucks and The Grand Strand Bar to its line-up of food and beverage offerings available at the Myrtle Beach International Airport,” said Scott Van Moppes, director of airports for Horry County.
HMSHost and the Horry County Department of Airports are collaborating on the development of The Grand Strand Bar. The new bar will feature a selection of South Carolina brews along with leading national beers. It will offer an all-day menu featuring light breakfast items, snacks and sandwiches.
“In an airport environment, it is important to provide a variety of options to the traveling public, which includes a mix of international, national and local concepts. It is our goal to exceed our passengers’ expectations and with the addition of these two new concepts it is our hope that the Myrtle Beach experience will be more memorable than ever,” concluded Van Moppes.
