Passenger Terminal Expo 2015 welcomed record numbers of visitors and delegates in Paris today (March 10), with final visitor numbers to be confirmed and more than 1,350 conference attendees walking through the doors on the opening day.
The event, which is being held until Thursday March 12, also attracted more than 180 exhibitors from around the world, who are showcasing the very latest innovations for the passenger terminal industry. Product launches included a new self-service bag-drop solution from Crisplant, a unique queue management system from Walkbase and the latest software from Siemens Logistics and Airport Solutions.
“We’ve had great interest from visitors today who want to learn all about our new bag drop solution,” said Heidi Klit, marketing coordinator at Crisplant. “Passenger Terminal Expo is a great place to launch new products and discuss our latest developments with all the right people in the industry.”
Alongside the exhibition is the integral Passenger Terminal Conference that is being held across the three-day event and includes presentations from over 300 of the industry’s leading figures. Topics covered include airport design, planning and development, intermodal transport, commercial development, passenger experience, self-service, check-in and baggage processing.
“I spent most of the morning in conference sessions which were excellent; the most difficult thing is trying to decide which ones to go to because they all look great,” said delegate Simon Scott, head of international business, Leslie Jones Architecture. “It is a very good and comprehensive program so congratulations on the range of talks available. Equally the exhibition is interesting and I think it is bigger than I’ve ever seen which is great. There is so much diversity in the stands it’s really good to see. I have had the opportunity to catch up with people I have worked with before, reconnecting and reinforcing relationships which has been very useful.”
Visitor Heikki Tanner, member of the board and consultant for the Estonia Defence Industry, added, “Passenger Terminal Expo is a key event for me – I’ve come to see the variety of airport equipment and developments available, both for security and passenger management, and I have been very impressed by what I have seen. I’ve really enjoyed visiting the many different stands and have already got some great business opportunities to follow up on.”
