Evgeny Tumel, deputy general director of infrastructure for Sheremetyevo Airport in Russia, delivered a report at the National Airport Infrastructure Show and Civil Aviation (NAIS&CA) in Moscow on February 10, 2015, outlining the constructing of the new North Terminal Complex (NTC).
Tumel said, “The development project for the North Terminal Complex at Sheremetyevo Airport represents a large-scale and unique project for Russian civil aviation.”
The NTC will be delivered in two phases, the first creating a new 1,076,000ft2 terminal, capable of accommodating 15 million passengers annually. An underground subway will also be constructed to link the NTC with the South Terminal Complex (STC). The first phase will be completed in time for the FIFA World Cup scheduled to take place in Russia in 2018. The second phase will expand the airport so that it’s capable of handling 53 million passengers annually by 2023.
