Vanderlande has been awarded its 100th site-based service contract following an agreement with the Airlines Committee of Hawaii (ACH). The three-year contract started on March 1, 2015, and involves a site-based team of more than 50 employees. They will provide operations and maintenance for all inbound and outbound baggage handling at Honolulu International Airport and Kahului Airport. The team will also be responsible for all maintenance of the inbound systems at Lihue Airport, Kona International Airport and Hilo International Airport.
Vanderlande was one of six potential bidders in the competitive procurement process with the ACH, which included blind scoring. Vanderlande now has 100 site-based service teams worldwide. The order intake for services will amount to a new record of €250m (US$276m) in the current financial year, which ends on March 31, 2015. Over the last few years, Vanderlande has experienced a consistent growth in services sales of around 15% per annum.
An official ceremony was held in Hawaii to celebrate the company’s 100th site-based service contract. Tjarko Bouman, director services development at Vanderlande, presented Matt Shelby, co-chairperson of ACH, with a commemorative plaque showing a map of the world.
Shelby said, “The ACH recently took responsibility for the operation and maintenance of baggage handling systems at certain major airports within the Hawaii airport system. We knew of Vanderlande’s excellent global reputation within the market and we needed an industry leader to work closely with us for this important project. Although the procurement process was highly competitive with compelling proposals from multiple bidders, we are confident that we have found a real partner that can bring the operations and maintenance of the baggage handling system to a whole new level. The cooperation Vanderlande has shown on virtually every aspect of this start-up has been excellent and we are convinced that Vanderlande is the right partner for us.”
Bouman said, “We are very happy with our 100th site-based service contract, which we consider an important milestone in our services growth over the last few years. Our services for the ACH baggage handling systems will ensure high performance, and further improvement with the implementation of innovative service solutions such as EYE4U and Maximo EAM. We look forward to working with the ACH to help them ensure the success of their business.”
