Construction engineering firm ADP Ingénierie, together with a local partner, has won the contract to upgrade the baggage handling system of the King Hussain International Airport, Aqaba, Jordan.
The installation is to include the introduction of a SCADA system, CUTE/CUPPS, baggage reconciliation system for departing baggage and improvements to the arriving baggage system. As the airport has recently started to receive LCC flights from Europe, modifications to the terminal will be undertaken to accommodate the upgraded baggage handling system. Additional security screening of passenger baggage is required for the airport to comply with European security regulations.
King Hussain International Airport is located at the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba and approximately four hours’ drive from Amman, Jordan’s capital. Groupe ADP operates Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, through Airport International Group (AIG), in which it holds a 51% stake alongside builders and investment funds.
