The global implementation of e-services has simplified passenger check-in. Hold baggage check-in, however, remains a major constraint for passengers, airlines and airports. In a bid to answer this, Passenger Terminal Expo 2015 exhibitor Alstef has developed two types of automatic baggage drop off systems: BAGXpress and BAGXPress lite.
Alstef says BAGXpress is a complete, intuitive self-service solution, accessible to passengers with reduced mobility. After printing their boarding pass and bag-tags at the self-service kiosk, passengers fix the tags to their bags and go to the self check-in area. At the baggage drop-off machine they scan their boarding pass and place their baggage inside the machine. The door closes automatically and baggage is then fully checked before going into the traditional circuit.
BAGXPress lite is designed for airport operators and airlines requiring flexibility of check-in modes. The check-in desk is designed to allow the baggage drop-off to be processed by an agent at the counter or by the passengers themselves. Depending on their needs, airlines will choose the assisted or self-service mode. Alstef says each BAGXPress lite is generic and available for all airlines, and has been designed to be adaptable to existing counters.
BAGXpress and BAGXPress lite are CUSS compliant and can include additional functions including ID readers, payment terminal for extra weight and e-services.
More information will be available from Alstef about its baggage drop-off solutions at Passenger Terminal Expo 2015 on March 10-12 in Paris, France, stand number 3005. For more information about the Expo and to register for the event, please click here.
