Changi Airport in Singapore was voted first in the world’s top-10 best airports for baggage delivery, according to the 2015 Skytrax World Airport Customer Satisfaction Awards held in Paris on March 11, 2015.
Crisplant’s long-term partnership with Changi Airport began with the installation of a tilt-tray sorter in 2002, and was further strengthened with the installation of the CrisBag baggage-handling system (BHS), developed by Beumer Group, the parent company for Crisplant. The ‘one bag per tote’ concept provided the airport with 100% tracking and traceability of each item of baggage throughout the check-in, sorting and screening processes.
Crisplant’s partnership with Changi Airport continues to grow following the installation of a BHS at the new Changi Terminal 4 building. The system is expected to be completed in 2017 and will be capable of handling approximately 16 million passengers.
“Fast and accurate baggage handling is central to creating a great passenger experience,” said Klaus Schäfer, managing director, Crisplant. “The use of state-of-the-art technology and continual optimization of the baggage-handling process not only helps to enhance the passenger experience but also contributes to increasing the airport’s overall efficiency and minimizing its environmental impact.
Crisplant systems are used by half of Skytrax’s top-10 airports for baggage delivery, with installations at Copenhagen and Munich airports in Europe, as well as Incheon International Airport in South Korea, Changi Airport in Singapore, and Hong Kong International Airport.
