Alstef has won its first Russian baggage handling system (BHS) contract from operator Renova Group for Nizhny Novgorod International Airport. The contract was won in conjunction with local partner AFT Project and will involve the installation of a BHS for the departures and arrivals area of a new terminal being built for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
For departures, the project will involve constructing 18 baggage check-in counters grouped together in four islands. The system will also have four x-ray machines for international luggage, including one for oversized items. At arrivals, the bags will be processed in the conventional manner on four delivery carousels.
Alstef faces the task of completing the project within six months as the terminal is scheduled to begin operations by October 2015.
