Tucson International Airport in Arizona has officially opened its new C Gates and passengers will start using the new facilities from Thursday, January 1,0 when Allegiant Air begins operations.
The new gate facility is situated 300ft (91m) from the west of the airport’s main terminal in the former International Terminal. It also now houses the US Customs and Border Protection’s Global Entry Enrollment office.
Passengers departing from the C Gates should be dropped off at the curb in front of the new facility, and airline check-in counters and TSA screening will be done in the separate C Gates building. Baggage claim for arriving passengers will also be in the new facility, rather than the main terminal.
So far, only Allegiant has opted to use the new C Gates facility on a regular basis, but other airlines may follow and it can also be an option for charter flights.
