London Southend Airport has been ranked the most punctual airport in London for January 2018, and also came in the top 100 in the world for punctuality.
The latest figures from OAG Flightview, a leading provider of digital flight information, have revealed that 90.9% flights landing or taking off from London Southend Airport were within 15 minutes of schedule. Other London airports fared less favorably, with Luton (82.7%) coming closest, followed by Heathrow (80.7%), Stansted (74%), Gatwick (71.1%), and City (69.9%).
Glyn Jones, CEO of Stobart Aviation, owners of London Southend Airport, said, “Passengers suffer stress and aggravation when their flights are delayed. We’re proud of our record and these latest punctuality figures again show that London Southend is punching well above its weight in terms of performance.
“This is just another indication of the chronic state of capacity in the south east. London airports, except Southend, are already struggling to cope with the sheer number of passengers. Terminals are crowded and the whole travel experience is all-too-often woeful.
“The short- to medium-term solution for government is to examine the potential of smaller airports to manage the overflow. London Southend could accommodate 10 times the million passengers it has now.”
