Hyderabad International Airport has introduced India’s first ever FasTag parking lot, in collaboration with NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India).
Dedicated FasTag lanes have been created at the entry and exit to the parking lot, ensuring zero wait time. Non-FasTag vehicles will continue to use the existing parking system.
Speaking about the roll-out of this initiative, SGK Kishore, CEO of operator GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL), said, “This new parking system provides quick, hassle-free movement in the parking zone. It is also aligned with the Government of India’s efforts regarding digitization and cashless transactions.
“Apart from the regular benefits of FasTag, the system also promotes environmental sustainability in terms of fuel saving, reduction in paper use and pollution.”
The FasTag solution is based on a reloadable electronic RFID tag which enables automatic deduction of parking charges, while the driver continues through the car park without needing to stop to carry out a cash transaction.
