Cork Airport in the Republic of Ireland has been nominated for two awards at the 2015 Aviation Industry Awards hosted by the Irish Aviation Authority. The airport has been nominated for the Customer Service Award, which it won in 2014, and is one of two nominees for the Aviation Sustainability and Environment Award.
The Aviation Industry Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in the Irish aviation industry and involve over 65 of the country’s most successful and emerging aviation businesses.
Niall MacCarthy, managing director, Cork Airport, said, “We are absolutely delighted that Cork Airport has been nominated for the Customer Service Award at the Aviation Industry Awards for the second year. To be recognized by our peers in the aviation sector is a great achievement and real acknowledgement of the hard work that the entire team at Cork Airport puts in each day to deliver an outstanding passenger experience.
“At Cork Airport, we are always looking for ways to improve to ensure we continue to offer a world class customer service. Over the past year, we have introduced improvements including investing in our customer information area and launching a new flight tracking feature on our app, which is a first for an Irish airport.
“We have always been committed to reducing our carbon footprint and working to ensure the airport is as environmentally-friendly as possible. We have continuously achieved savings of over 35% in energy consumption as well as a reduction of over 30% in CO2 emissions over the past five years.”
