Biometrics specialist Clear has begun operations at St Louis Lambert International Airport, Missouri, offering expedited passage for passengers through an ID verification process at security checkpoints.
Clear uses biometrics – eyes and fingertips – to confirm travelers’ identity, replacing the need for traditional identification documents. The company is now offering its services at security lanes in St Louis’s Terminal 2, extending to lanes at the Concourse A and C checkpoints by early March.
Travelers can begin the enrollment process online and complete it with the help of a Clear Ambassador in a few easy steps at a pod near the airport checkpoints.
Clear is an opt-in membership service that does not share or sell members’ biometric information. Its US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) certified identification technology relies upon double-encrypted biometric data.
Annual Clear membership costs US$179, with discounts available for rewards programs, including Delta Airlines, United Airlines, American Express and Hertz. Family Plans are also available for an additional US$50 per adult per year. Children under 18 do not need to be added to a Family Plan and can join for free.
