Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport has announced the installation of two sustainable water options for passengers.
The airport has installed two drinks stations from California-based company Drop Water, where passengers can either fill their own water bottles or purchase a drink in a 100% compostable container.
“Drop Water’s mission is to shift the consumer beverage industry to a more sustainable future,” said Scott Edwards, founder and CEO of DropWater. “Cincinnati has been fantastic to work with. It is clear they are willing to go out of their way to support sustainable and innovative products.”
The Drop Stations are standalone units featuring a touchscreen interface which allows passengers to select from a variety of flavored waters or simply plain water, with the option of using their own containers.
With a footprint of just over 6ft2 , and capable of holding 1,200 compostable bottles, the units are, according to DropWater, ideally suited to areas such as terminal concourses, as they need only power and a standard water connection.
