Tennessee’s Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport has awarded Hoar Construction the contract to design and build a US$25m, four-level, 1,300 space parking facility.
Construction on the new facility, which will also accommodate the airport’s rental car facilities, will begin in the coming months and is anticipated to be complete within a year, with a focus on minimizing disruption. The design-build team will also include local architectural firm MBI Companies, as well as American Structural Concrete, International Parking Design and Culp & Tanner Structural Engineers.
“We were very impressed by the amount of research and planning the team at Hoar did to understand the parking needs of our travelers,” said Terry Hart, president and CEO of Chattanooga Airport.
“We are confident they share our vision for a parking facility that will provide unparalleled convenience for the thousands of passengers who choose to fly in and out of Chattanooga each year.”
The parking garage is one of multiple projects the airport is undertaking in response to unprecedented passenger growth over recent years. Chattanooga is also planning the largest expansion to the passenger terminal since it opened in 1991. Design of the expanded terminal is expected to begin in 2020.
