At this year’s Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Exchange Conference and Exhibition in Muscat, Oman, taking place on December 7, 2017, students from the Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) met with ACI World representatives to discuss the pressing need for new aviation professionals, particularly in airport management, to continue the long-term growth of the civil aviation sector.
Dr Dan Wong, deputy head of department, transport studies, MCBS, said, “I applaud the efforts of ACI World and other aviation organizations worldwide to foster the growth of the next generation of aviation professionals. The needs are especially great throughout the Middle East for locally educated and trained professionals given the rapid growth of both airports and civil aviation activities that are integral to support the region’s current and future economic development.”
Established in 1996, MCBS in Muscat, Oman, is the first fully-private higher education establishment in the country. It is also the only higher education institution in Oman to offer an undergraduate degree in both airport management and aviation management, as well as IATA-certified training programs.
