The eastern wing expansion project for the Hilton Munich Airport hotel in Germany has reached its topping-out phase. The €40m (US$45.4m) project is scheduled for completion by 2017 and will add 162 new rooms, bringing the hotel’s total capacity to 551 guest rooms.
The new eastern wing will cover 8,800m² (94,722ft²) across seven floors and will be linked to the hotel via a walkway. A new conference center is also being built alongside the new wing. Kofler Energies in Frankfurt will be in charge of construction.
Thomas Weyer, CFO and head of infrastructure for Munich Airport, said, “With the increasing demand from passengers and crew members, which not only benefits hotels on the airport campus, but also those in the surrounding area, I am confident that the expanded hotel will achieve excellent occupancy rates. This will certainly not be the last expansion project with our airport hotels.”
