A consortium comprising construction firm Merko Ehitus Eesti, civil engineers KMG Inseneriehituse and transport operator Tallinna Linnatranspordi has been awarded a contract to design and build the new tramline for Tallinn Airport in Estonia.
Under the contract, the consortium will construct a new tunnel and tramline extension running through Tallinn until it reaches the airport. A new substation will also be constructed to power the trams.
The contract is valued at approximately €11.5m (US$12.6m) with construction work starting in spring 2016 year and reaching completion by the end of the following year.
