A second airport is to be built on Jeju Island in South Korea according to a report by the Korean Times.
The report claims that the plans were announced by the Korean government’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport yesterday (November 10). The single runway airport will be constructed by 2025 to support the unprecedented rise in tourism on the island. The airport will be built at an estimated cost of US$3.5bn.
Approximately 23.2 million people visited Jeju Island last year, with 28.3 million predicted to visit in 2018 and around 40 million by 2025.
