Finnish airport operator Finavia has completed its renovation project at Ivalo Airport in Finland. The €13.5m (US$14.5m) project involved the complete modernization of the main terminal building as well as the construction of a new wing which opened earlier this year.
The main terminal has been completely renovated with particular attention being spent on the passenger waiting rooms and restaurant areas. This includes Finnish-styled furniture and decorations installed throughout and a new café located in the pre-security area.
Joni Sundelin, director at Finavia, said, “Finavia’s investment at Ivalo Airport is the largest single input in network airport development in the last few years, and we are very happy that the work is now complete. By making Lapland airports more effective and smooth, we have also invested in Lapland tourism.”
Finavia’s wing expansion project opened in May 2015 and included the construction of check-in facilities, a security area and baggage handling facilities.
