Song Hoi-see, founder and CEO of hospitality firm Plaza Premium Group (PPG), has been named Male Entrepreneur of the Year at the Star Outstanding Business Awards (SOBA) 2015, organized by Star Media Group in Malaysia.
SOBA recognizes Malaysian enterprises by presenting awards in two categories, namely the Outstanding Achievement Awards and the Top-Of-The-Class Awards. The Male Entrepreneur of the Year award falls under the Outstanding Achievements category.
Hoi-see started PPG in 1998, when he launched two independent passenger lounges at Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong international airports. The Plaza Premium Lounge concept challenged the stereotype that airport lounges were for premium travelers only. All passengers could pay to enter the lounge regardless of their airline or class of travel.
Hoi-see said, “Winning this award is an honor for me and a testament to the company. I hope my business story can inspire young entrepreneurs to transfer a local business concept successfully into the world arena. Through this accolade, I want our younger generation to keep having faith in entrepreneurship and innovation. It is possible to start with nothing, like me, as long as you have a unique idea, courage, perseverance and passion.
“This award is very much attributed to the dedication of my team. Plaza Premium Lounge would not have been what it is today without their full support and faith in sharing my vision.”
Since 1998, Plaza Premium Lounge has evolved into PPG, a global service brand offering premium airport services, with over 3,500 employees in more than 130 locations across 35 international airports.
