Positioning technology developer Trimble has been contracted to supply 15 additional machine control systems for soil stabilization for the construction of the new Beijing Daxing International Airport in China. The contract extension is based on soil stabilization results from using the systems over the past four months.
The soil stabilization systems are part of Trimble’s digital construction information management solution for the real-time tracking and monitoring of construction operations. The Trimble solution allows users to create 3D constructible models, perform soil stabilization, automate construction processes and effectively manage information. Following its completion, Beijing’s new airport is projected to handle approximately 72 million travelers and 620,000 flights by the year 2025.
Li Qiang, chief engineer of the Beijing New Airport Construction Office, said, “The research results for dynamic compaction have been extremely promising. As a result, the project is pushing forward with a larger scale deployment to further the research into creating new methods and standards for airfield construction.”
