Lima Airport Partners (LAP), the operator of Jorge Chavez International Airport in Peru, has selected FCC Construction, Salini Impregilo and AECOM as the winning team to implement the major expansion project at the hub.
The selection follows the signing of the 7th Addendum to the LAP Concession Agreement entered into with the Peruvian State (Ministry of Transport and Communications – MTC), and the subsequent exhaustive process of prequalification and request for proposals, that required some nine months.
The winning team is formed by two leading companies in the infrastructures sector, FCC Construction and Salini Impregilo, with AECOM operating as the principal design lead.
With the design and build team now selected, LAP will look to begin works focusing on environmental remediation, topographic and geotechnical services. The aim is to implement infrastructure which will contribute to the construction of the second runway and the new passenger terminal.

Since the signing of the 7th Addendum, we have already been working diligently on the first stage that every major infrastructure project requires. This includes field studies, concept engineering, environmental impact studies, and the financing process. Simultaneously, we are focused on maintaining the high level of quality service at Lima Airport.”
Since the start of the concession in 2001, LAP has invested more than US$400m in the airport’s infrastructure. This includes an extra US$70m invested in existing facilities as a result of delays in the delivery of the land required for the expansion program. Currently LAP is completing refurbishment and expansion projects in various areas of the terminal, such as the national departures hall (1,300m² [14,000ft²]) featuring 18 additional check-in counters (500m² [5,400ft²]), and a new baggage claim area (2,000m² [21,500ft²]) with two baggage claim belts.
