Hermes Airports has installed BorderXpress interactive kiosks at Larnaka and Pafos international airports in Cyprus.
The kiosks mean each departing or arriving passenger at the two Cypriot airports can independently scan their identity card or passport as an intermediate step of the passport control procedure. Passengers will receive a receipt that should be presented at a predefined checkpoint. The kiosks will be used only by EU citizens in arrivals but all nationalities will have access at the exit immigration control.
In total, 74 BorderXpress interactive kiosks have been installed at both international airports. At Larnaka Airport, there are 44 automatic machines, of which 18 are located in the departures area and 26 in the arrivals area. At Pafos Airport, there are 30 machines, of which 14 are located in the departures area and 16 in the arrivals area.
Eleni Kaloyirou, CEO of Hermes Airports, said, “Since day one of our operations at Larnaka and Pafos airports, customer service was and remains one of our main strategic priorities.
“Our goal was and still is to be in position to offer an enhanced customer service, viewed through a holistic approach that includes the traveling experience of our passengers from the beginning to the end of their journey.”
This technology was developed by Innovative Travel Solutions, an independent business unit within Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in British Columbia, Canada. The kiosks can be configured to meet the needs of governments looking to reduce border line-ups at entrance and exit points and improve the safety and security of borders.
