Special assistance service provider OmniServ has received an award for its use of the innovative ProMove Sling, which was deployed across terminals at London Heathrow Airport earlier this year.
The award was presented at the Team Heathrow Health & Safety Awards 2018, a Heathrow initiative to celebrate the performance of its external suppliers and contractors responsible for helping with the day-to-day running of the airport.
Designed and made in the UK, The ProMove Sling enables passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) to be transferred between aircraft seats and wheelchairs more quickly, efficiently and safely. It is an easily transportable, lightweight option and reduces the need for support personnel to touch the passenger and the danger of causing an accidental injury.
The equipment enables two, three or four support personnel to share the load via the strategically placed padded handles, allowing each to get a proper grip and spreading the weight that each individual person must lift.
OmniServ worked in partnership with the airlines at Heathrow to deploy nearly 100 of the ProMove Sling devices across the airport’s terminals.
Antony Marke, group managing director at OmniServ, said, “The health and safety of both passengers and our employees is of utmost importance and it’s a testament to our team and the ProMove team to be recognized by Heathrow in this way. This is just one of many innovations and solutions that we are deploying across the PRM operation at Heathrow to help improve the passenger experience and maintain high standards of dignity and care.”
Dana Thomas, director of ProMove UK, said, “This is wonderful news and I am delighted that the product has been acknowledged in this way. We hope that the ProMove Sling will continue to make such a positive difference for passengers with reduced mobility when traveling by air.”
